Meh is write on the 924s. Holy piles of crap. Sorry, it was an Audi sourced engine from a joint venture with VW/Audi. The 924 also used many parts like the front strut assembly, guages and other parts from the Golf. They suffered rust problems and were not built in Porsche factories but in Audi's.

The 944 was a Porsche developed 4-cylinder, basically half of a 928. They also improved on suspension, handling, rust proofing, design and built the car in Porsche factories, Zuffenhausen to be exact.

I still say mooooooove over Cayenne. Go buy a Touareg if you want to suck at the teet of the cash cow.

I don't see them killing off the Cayenne. As you said, too much of a money maker. We may see more efficient versions of it, i.e. turbo diesels, hybrids, etc. but I have a hard time believing they are going to send the cash cow out to pasture. However, the market may be too saturated with other "sporty" SUVs at the same price point, wherein I could see them phasing it out instead of developing a replacement. I guess we will have to wait and see.

As to the 924, what VW platform was that developed on? So is the 944/968 also on the same platform? Or is it an engine thing? And I don't care what anyone says, the 924 Carrera GT is a bad ass car. As to the rest of the 924s, meh.
